I'm nearly at an end of family time.
Today I saw one of my favourite cousins, who has married into an exceptionally nice family. We were surrounded by children, from newborn to near-teen. It was loads of fun.
I'm not supposed to enjoy being around children, being a grumpy spinster and all. I do, though. I especially love that look of ineffable joy on the face of a four year old girl when she sees blue smarties and the look on the face of her mother when she realises that there will be a sugar high to deal with. I did not encourage the four year old. Well, not beyond pointing out that the smarties matched her t-shirt and that if she ate enough of them she could make her tongue match her t-shirt, too.
I am all prepared for children at Conflux, BTW. I have sweets that give superhighs. No caffeine or guarana, just sugar and red food dye. If the sweet is red and you are under 11, it's yours - all you have to do is ask.
I used to get a ton of work as a babysitter in my teens. Even the once-children I used to babysit now wonder why.
