Oct. 17th, 2005 12:13 pmToday is very mixed. Very, very mixed. I will only report the good in an endeavour to make the world a better place. I will also post another recipe from my grandmother in the same endeavour.
The cheering stuff is the Dr Who news (I liked Harkness and he is quite a big enough character for his own series) and the chocolate fudge that
girliejones made magically appear in my letterbox. Tasmanian fudge. Illegal, but oh, so good at making a day that started badly get suddenly better. It was the fudge that determined me I am going to redeem the day. and the fact that I looked at the filename for the recipes and my sister has called it "Grandma Polack formatted in A4." I never knew my grandmother had been formatted. Explains a lot. I wonder if formatting is dominant or recessive?
This is a variety of French toast - when I was a child we had it with cinnamon and sugar on, or just grated cheese. When our friends were round, Mum couldn't cook fast enough - 6 or more greedy children are a lot to feed from one frypan:
Banana Cheese Toast
Beat 1 egg slightly & add 3/4 cup milk, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon sugar. Dip 6 slices of bread in this mixture & fry a golden brown. While hot, cut into squares & cover with sliced banana & then thick grated cheese.
