Dec. 6th, 2005 06:58 pmI found myself singing Trial By Jury while I was walking yesterday. It struck me as odd that Trial By Jury is the piece that comes out without me noticing until I am partway through when life is particularly wonderful. But it is and it does. And I find myself humming "All hail great judge" whenever I get a story accepted for publication.
Subterranean Magazine rated a full half the operetta (John Scalzi rated a whole aria simply for getting my jokes and for understanding the relationship betwen writers and money so very nicely), and my novel got the whole shebang. I suspect if I had a contract for a trilogy I would have to add Pinafore and maybe bits of the Mikado.
I do not know how Gilbert and Sullivan etched themselves into my subconscious as a metaphor for happiness.
