Jan. 14th, 2006 06:57 pmThe universe is a funny place. I spend days and days blogging about food and in return I was bequeathed with coffee, chocolate covered coffee beans and now, two bags of giant zucchini. I can use one bag easily, but I am willing to bequeath zucchini to enthusiastic friends. These are big enough to do stuffed marrow with and still tender enough to fry with onion and chicken and cumin and lemon juice.
Apart from zucchini and too much hot weather, what has my day comprised? I have finished reading a trilogy by Fiona McIntosh, worked out a plot problem for a short story (which means I no longer have to re-read the whole of The Monk in search of inspiration, which is good because I am finding Lewis just as misogynistic as twenty years ago. All his best one-liners seem to be putting women down.), walked two miles (the less said of the commonsense of someone who walks two miles in 34 degree heat, the better), did a load of washing, and dwelled further on how unMedievalish my life is right now. I suspect I won't get much history research done until late February, when (if the stars are aligned correctly) I get teaching again. My next six weeks is all writing and editing and book reviews. And giant zucchini and friends.
