Last minute flurries
Feb. 5th, 2006 01:27 pmI know I am nearly gone because there are only two pieces of paper with important-information-that-must-be-processed on my desk. And neither of them is that important. One is a sub-plot idea for the next novel and is just waiting for me to decide what to do with it (do I throw it out, just to show it who's boss?), and the other is more mysterious, bearing Roman numerals.
I still have to sort out the printer and transfer material to the laptop, but I am substantially finished with packing and about halfway through the requisite panic. I have handed over my keys to my official houseminder and bribed her with coffee and biscuits.
I don't know how I will survive without email and blog and friends for two weeks, but I suspect the idea of a retreat is to have nowhere to retreat to when one wants to find excuses to put off writing.
Have a good time while I am away, and be nice to Brian and Kaaron and Nicole!
I will be online for a couple more hours if you have a burning desire to drop unforgettable oneliners in my blog or in-box, to keep me sustained while I am away.
