Very early night tonight and not much online tomorrow. I had a shocker of a migraine today and just need to rest. That's the bad news. Apologies to anyone to whom anything was promised - everything on hold till migraine is entirely past.

Tomorrow might do it. This is because of a small near-miracle called hypocras. One of my students brought it to class tonight and my migraine went into abeyance for two hours. It's back now, but as a lingering remnant, not the viciously nauseous original.

It was the last night of that course and I shall miss it. Just the best students and tthe eh most fun time. Tonight we talked about troubadors and trouveres and early dance, but we spent a bunch of time playing board games and eating Medieval food (a full dinner's worth!) and generally having fun. We were all reluctant to go, and three of the students have sworn a pact to appear in my Medieval women course later on. I have promised them lots of different recipes so we can do the food thing again.

What was also cool is that one of my students is a lawyer who worked on the Self-Government legislative apparatus. She says that Self-Government didn't repeal things, it just overlaid current legislation. So the 1297 Magna Carta is still in force in the ACT unless it has specifically been repealed since then, which neither of us knew but which seems unlikely. Why it doesn't get called on is that it is way down in the order of things called on ie very seldom relevant. Which explains why so many things that are alien to our current life can exist in the body of our law.

Sleep beckons. Pain relief first, though.
