Jul. 16th, 2006 05:25 pmToday I finally met
chucklemonkey's sister-in-law. She is thoroughly nice and we plan to meet up again. Maybe we should plot evil towards
chucklemonkey.
In the way home I passed Krispy Kreme, which has just opened round the corner from me. I got given a doughnut simply because I was passing by, which is as good a reason as any.
My best friend and I have an ongoing fight about their doughnuts. She adores them and I think they are a bit like flavourless fairyfloss. This is unfair of me because I tasted them under extremely favourable circumstances (after the book tour, we were in New Orleans and waited for a fresh batch to be made so I could have them at their best). Anyhow, because of the circumstances I remembered the flavour exactly and can report that the Woden variety has more of the sugar coating (quite a thick coating, in fact) and the doughnut itself is a little more squidgy - less fairy light. I also suspect that the Woden dough has a little less sugar, but I don't trust my flavour memory *that* much.
What else do you need to know about these doughnuts? Very handy for a sugar high for the insulin resistant. Not something I will make a practice of eating? Or that they were a precursor to yet more Star Trek? On consideration, the latter is the most interesting.
