Aug. 12th, 2006 04:14 pmI have a special regimen for today. I intend to reduce my reading-pile to an unembarrasing level. Tomorrow I intend to do the same to my teaching preparation pile. After that maybe I get to tackle some outstanding reviews or some much-delayed web updates.
So far my ambitions are going well. Reading is a sensible aim for a person who has lingering flu. The other day in the ASif forum I was asked what books I was reading and listed seven. Four of them are done and gone and I'm halfway through the fifth and have read an eighth to boot. What's funny is that last night I finally got past the "This is work" feel and realised I was enjoying the books as if I had never heard of reviews or teaching or writing deadlines. This is excellent because I intend to take vast numbers of notes from academic texts this evening while watching TV. And enjoy it. I might even breathe at the same time. Multiskilling is a wondrous thing.
(If you want to know about the books I'm getting through at such a rapid rate, ask in the ASif Forum - poor
girliejones is my sole inquisitor right now and she should not have to do all the work. There are some seriously interesting books in my list. You need to know about them. Or we could argue about them. Or I could give up trying to persuade you and spend my time reading more green prose written by a misanthropic modern Lewis Carroll. My reading list is here somewhere: http://www.asif.dreamhosters.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=145&start=0 )
