The heading is my really polite way of saying that historical documents should be archived safely, not left in the hands of amateurs who say "It must be somewhere here. It's so important. We can't have thrown it out." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/08/14/wmoon14.xml

yesterday I valiantly battled migraine and got all my teaching notes done. Today I found out that one of the courses has lost a student and another student can't be contacted and it may have to be cancelled. All those cookbooks are now sitting on the floor for no purpose whatsoever, since the problem course is "Food in history". "Medieval Women" is still happening and that's tonight so I have to get my migraine into the past as quickly as possible, find my missing purse (harder than it sounds - I've looked *everywhere*) and hie me to do photocopying etc.

I am really going to miss that "Food in History" course - and it's tough on students when things get cancelled like that. Sighs all round. Still, at least I got to re-read Francatelli.

ETA: I found my purse. Maybe my day has redeeming features :).

ETA: Course went well. Migraine going swimmingly. I'm up to the stage when I am too tired to think. The chemist and I worked out that Hairy Lemons might keep it at bay while I was teaching and they did. I talked about the silencing of women in the historical record and sounded almost eloquent at times.
