(no subject)
Sep. 2nd, 2006 06:55 pmIf I were Catholic I would dedicate my next few hours to St Claire. One of my students gave a really good presentation on her the other day.
I wonder though, how Claire would have reconciled being made the Patron Saint of Television with her vows of poverty. Is it possible to be the patron saint of TV while disowning the lure of the advertisement? Thank goodness Dr Who is on the ABC and there are no ads.
And I dedicate my comments about patron saints to the ever-persistent people round me who think the world would be better if I were Christian. I have averaged one conversion attempt a fortnight recently. I used to engage in interesting dialogue about papal history or the filioque clause. These days I just sigh and try to change the subject.
