Nov. 10th, 2006 10:51 amToday is a host small catch-up things and lots of reading. I have 6 1/2 books to read for the Aurealis Awards (five new ones were just delivered - till then I was almost caught up). I have a very comfortable bed though and whenever I walk near my bedroom a voice whispers out of it "You know you've done too much work this week. Rest for a little. Just an hour. No-one will notice." So in my loungeroom there is a swarm of little tasks that niggle me. The swarm is thickest in my kitchen. And next to my work-chair. There is another swarm in the laundry. And another at the computer. No wonder I'm tempted to listen to evil whispers.
No more book deliveries until next week. This is good, because it gives me a chance to make serious inroads into that pile. And I've put a load of washing on to drown out that persistent little whisper of "You know you need to rest."
My Aurealis-aim-of-the-day is a minimum of one book but preferably two. My housework aim is to do all my clothes' washing, make my kitchen unembarrassing and put lots of rubbish out. I have work aims too but I can't remember what they are. I already did an hour of them, and the rest will come back to me just at the wrong time.
I need a list. And I need coffee. Not in that order. And tonight I'm having a night *off*. I'm pretty positive I'm seeing Neverwhere with my night off :).
ETA: I never did remember what work I had to do today, so I only did three hours of it. I did all my planned housework and my Aurealis reading. I have decided that all empty interstices in my weekend will be filled with reading and that by the time the mail arrives on Monday I shall have finished 4 1/2 more books. It's totally bugging me not being able to talk about the books I'm reading, but can I say what a great pleasure the vast majority of them are. Australian writers have done young adult readers exceptionally proud this year.
