Jan. 13th, 2007 11:04 pmIs it delurking week? Please let it be delurking week. I have an enormous desire to meet some of the quieter folks who read my blog.
Don't feel that saying 'hi' this week will commit you to anything, though if you want it to commit you to eating chocolate or buying books you are welcome to make that commitment (today's reading was Diana Wynne-Jones and Garth Nix and John Dickinson, BTW). All it means is that I get to say 'hi' back. And that we will all have warm fuzzy feelings for five seconds and feel that the world is a lovely and friendly place.
It *can* be lovely and friendly and warm and fuzzy. Last night at dinner an old family friend was telling my uncle about her late husband's sheet music. She called across the table to me asking about a family who had played his string quartet at my school and might still have a copy. I gave her the name and then suggested she talk to my uncle (the one sitting next to her). One of the family she was seeking used to be his employer.
If you don't believe me, ask Trudi, who witnessed the shouting across the table. My family is *so* quiet and restrained.
