Feb. 24th, 2007 10:49 pmI have all kinds of lovely swag from Mum's visit and from our trip to the Show. Lots of books, my violin, four chairs, a giant roll of paper (or is that a roll of giant paper?) for fiction-related map-making, showbags, a tiny tumbled piece of boulder opal collected by the grandson of the guy who inspired "Clancy of the Overflow", a rather nice quartz crystal, a slightly tatty quartz crystal, a tiny piece of malachite, four plastic teeth from the set of Hogfather and an Ookmark.
Most of it is happily away. The books are alphabetically happily away, mostly. We did a giant sort of my stray books on Thursday and it turned out that there were over 600 to fix, not just the 3 boxes from Melbourne, so we alphabeticised everything but didn't get to put everything away. Besides, some of it needs to go on the top shelf, and neither Mum nor I can reach that high. So the sorting shelf and one box still contain books.
There are lots of things to enjoy resulting from all the boxes and showbags. I was going to read Lem or Chadwick or another important volume that I pulled out from the sorting because it couldn't be put away till I had read it (Mum made snarky comments when I did this, so almost everything went away - she has fond dreams that my place will one day be tidy). Lots of things to do. And what have I done with my Saturday? I caught up on sleep.
