Fannie Farmer
Mar. 23rd, 2007 09:56 amToday's a very quick post for Women's History Month. It's Fannie Farmer's birthday today. If she were still alive, she would have reached the impressive age of 150.
Her cookbook is still alive, and very good it is too. She was a significant reformer and used teaching and writing about food as a path to changing society. My sort of woman. She also had to reinvent her life because of ailment - it happens to all the best people. She and Harriet Martineau are women I really respect.
The Old Foodie has a good entry about her, with picture and recipes. I think I might just have a facsimile of the cookbook. I'm going to drink some cinnamon tea (both delicious and good for blood pressure) and toast her with it.
