Today I am Super Anti-Spammer!

Seriously, it took me an hour and a half this morning just to get rid of the spam on my other blog. Given the pace, maybe 'Super' is an exaggeration. This blog is obviously less famous and has so far avoided most spam. Akismet has blocked me nearly 1500 pieces of spam on my food blog and today's rush wasn't counted in that. Over two hundred spams a month, and rising. I bet you have been waiting aeons for these statistics.

I want a rabbi to announce the obvious: that spam isn't kosher.

At least I could think while I was anti-spamming so today has been spent in thought. Mostly thought processing yesterday's thought. [livejournal.com profile] sartorias is particularly good at provoking such things. She is a public danger to the heedless and braindead and someone should walk in front of her with a warning to that effect.

I took a walk myself - to shake off the spam - and I went shopping for just enough food for dinner tonight and tomorrow. No pork products. I talked to my sister (no hammy jokes) and updated a friend who missed an episode of The West Wing (OK, some mild ham). I read more MZB. I sent a few emails. I seem to have given lashings of advice. The only real work I did was write an abstract for a paper. This means I might have to do some work later tonight. It also means I really don't have much that's interesting to say. Except to refer to spam yet again. Aren't I sweet to leave it to the end of the entry to point this out?

I am a nicer person than I was a few hours ago. My unstarted novel is 1% finished. I do wonder whether these are linked? Surely not?

On another note, I will be at home to visitors on my birthday. I'm not doing anything seriously houseworkly or cooking anything interesting (because I refuse to spend my birthday in pain - done it before and think it's a mug's game). So if you have a high tolerance of mess and good coffee, please feel free to drop in on 25 April after 2 pm. BYO anything, though I do have a nice array of gourmet tea, Costa Rica Tarrazu coffee and kopi jawa and, of course, chocolate.
