Jun. 4th, 2007 06:22 pmNow is the quiet between the storms. If I type really quickly, I might even get an hour off, an hour in which I will try very hard not to notice the state of my flat or think about the meeting about to take place here. I don't know why meetings always end up at my place when I have a difficult week, but they do. It's not a bad week (except for the pain bits, which are moderate and hence susceptible to painkillers some of which I shall soon consume), it's just inordinately busy.
After my break the CSFG novel crit group will work on hooks for our novels. Hopefully it won't take long. Hopefully I can remember what my fiction is about :).
After the meeting I have to write a report that sums up four years of activity in my portfolio. My last report and I'm off that National Board. My very last women's organisation. Well, almost. I'm still running 28 mail-lists with the Australian Virtual Centre for Women and the Law. One day they'll fade, too, and I'll be a faded feminist :).
I don't have much to write for this last report. I did stuff, but most of it will be in the President's one. That would make it easy to write: "See President's report." I can't even get to my last Conference - they announced the date two weeks after my teaching for that weekend was confirmed and I refuse to sacrifice basic income to a hobby. I'll miss it though, and I'll miss them. The women of NCJWA are cool and wonderful and it has given me much joy to work with them, these last 18-19 years.
And now, I need chocolate. And a cup of tea. And a book. (And all those sentences beginning with "and" were dedicated to Russell Farr, because I'm in a dedicatory mood.)
