I just had a wonderful weekend. I intended to blog about it in detail tonight, but I got home at 10 pm and haven't quite caught up on my email even. I will catch up on my email and then I shall sleep. I rather suspect that I shan't catch up on everything that happened - I was only away 3 days but the world sems to have got on without me somewhat frenetically. Anyhow, hang in there and you might just hear about the joys of cemeteries and of shopping trips. The big thing is that I finally feel I've had time out - I only saw four friends, but my weekend with them was happy and relaxed (except for poor Chris who got me in medieval mode) and something I have needed for a while. I might have to add this 'time out' thing to my life more frequently. I'm not quit so enthusiastic about the dinner at 10.30 pm. though.

The moral of the story is: if an academic conference gets postponed, go anyway. You never know, you might get to eat fine chocolate and watch Night Stalker and discover why you like your friends.

Apologies to everyone I *didn't* see. I really, really, really needed a quiet time.

Tomorrow is my last day of term and I'm already in 'I want to sleep forever' mode. Partly this is because I took a weekend off. Now I know why I seldom take time off :).

One of the cool things I discovered this weekend (apart from chocolate shops and Night Stalker) was music preferred by emo teenagers. I'm gradually putting together a profile so I can develop a character. If anyone has any insights into emohood I would be interested in hearing them, because so far everyone I speak to has different ideas.

I also managed to get some old songbooks for another character, and a sickle. Alas, the sickle was too big for my backpack, so it's still in Sydney. I'm hoping one day a friend will drive to Canebra and bring it in the back of their car. We tested the sickle and it works - I intend to use it for teaching and can't wait for busdrivers to refuse to let me on :) (I might have to photograph it for teaching and use it for cutting grass).

I am faced with a momentous decision. I have an online meeting shortly. Do I wear my battered pink top or do I change for bed (since I will be asleep ten minutes after the meeting finishes)? If I turn up to an online meeting wearing nothing at all, will anyone notice? (note that the latter is not an option tonight - it's cold here)

Competition time! Not here, on my other blog. I promise that the prizes are way better than the half Tim Tams that we were discussing as suitable prizes for naming a writing course. I'll update on that course soon, BTW.
