Not much to report today except lots of family stuff that I shouldn't report. I'm practising being good and dutiful, so you don't get to hear anything, not even the bit about ghostly presences.

I can safely report that the snow was a failure. It just refused to happen.

The other thing that refused to happen are the courses starting next week. There were enrolments, but not enough to run either the Arthurian course or the Secret History of Jewish Food course. This is sad, but entirely understandable. This is the bitterest winter in a very long time, and doing an evening course when the wind chill factor makes the temperature around -3 (I checked it out last night - this isn't an exaggeration) before 6 pm is just not tempting.
Just goes to show, that you can offer all your most delectable courses (and even put Sir Tom Thumb into the Arthurian one) but when the weather threatens black ice everyone wants to get home early.

I have teaching Saturday morning and I had all the Sydney teaching, so I'm not without finances, which means I can be warm and understanding of those not willing to endure the cold. Besides, this is the winter of the Evil Virus - it's a year for cautious choices in how to spend an evening.

I myself am spending this evening cautiously. I love meetings of the Canberra Speculative Fiction Guild and we have one in exactly one hour and forty-give minutes, but Sydney was exhausting and I need to rest a bit. This means I might get to watch House. See, it's an ill wind...

One good thing about this weather: I can cook comfort food. Tonight's dinner will be macaroni and cheese, Gillian style (with extra spice).
