I forgot to say that I taught my students on Saturday the Potter/muggle magic differential and made them work it out before they started their stories. This time I explained it using the two different lives of Thomas Aquinas. There is the Aquinas of the Quaestiones (the dull, muggle version) as opposed to the Aquinas of the brazen head story (the Aquinas who might be tempted to buy his supplies in Diagon Alley).
When the film is done and has been out for a year I'll have to find another way of explaining how we use the Middle Ages in modern fiction.
