The word 'edit' terrifies me. Not because of what it means to my work, but because how many different things it can mean. Preparing an edition of a Medieval text has almost no resemblance to editing a novel. Today, therefore, I'm not editing anything at all. Though I do wish it were possible to edit out the boring, dull and unworthy segments from my own brain.

Is someone who overedits an ediot? I suddenly really, truly need to know.
