Today's items of note include 2 ghosts of sugar. One was seven years old and the ghost of a sugar crystal and the other was younger and the ghost of a sack of sugar.

Today was picnic day with one of my close friends and her two children and the ghosts were my fault, I'm afraid. I was the one who explained about the erstwhile sugar train line creating the park we were in. I suggested the kids watch for ghost trains and was regaled with a goodly segment of the Ghostbusters train scene in return. I took this as a sign that these two were not easily scared and I persuaded them into showing us what sugar ghosts looked like.

Later on we turned to classic rhyme. The outstanding one was

"Mary had a little lamb
Freddy had a pup
Vincent had a crocodile
That ate the others up."

There was a lot more: whoever thinks that little girls lack a sense of the macabre has met different little girls to the ones I know.

Now my mind is a little haunted by the thought of a t-shirt that says (over the stomach area) "The ghost of sugar past." Not as good as the sugar ghost crystal or the haunted sack. They were decidedly cute.
