Sep. 21st, 2007 12:21 pmI'm in advertisement mode today.
One of my courses needs a couple more people to go ahead, and another I'm going all the way to Sydney to teach, so I thought if I reminded folks about them, maybe one or two people might be interested and things might happen. I'm sounding all tentative about it because today's a migraine day and I'm tentative about everything (including putting out the washing - putting out the washing tentatively is an entertainment for my neighbours).
The Canberra course is Leadership for Women, which draws on my 20 years in the women's movement to present things ... differently. http://www.anu.edu.au/cce/pdcourses/Outlines/Leadership_for_women.pdf the details are here and every time I've taught it, we've all had a great deal of fun alongside the learning. It's not one of those courses where I teach how to be respectful of establishment. You can enrol here.
The other course is history for fiction writers. One of my big angsts over the past umpteen years is the chasm between historians and fiction writers. It's particularly tough on the writing side, because history comes into fiction so often and it's so hard to find out the exact stuff you need. This workshop is to help with processes and skills. It also gets to the heart of why most historians can't answer most historical novelist questions with anything like an instant or useful answer. By the end of it, writers will know a bunch more about asking questions and finding answers and getting history into their work.
And now please excuse me while I go nurse my migraine for a bit.
