Oct. 9th, 2007 09:40 pmI'm teaching Leadership for Women at University House on Thursday.
I love teaching at University House at the ANU. I can duck into the little grocery shop at lunchtime if I need groceries urgently, for instance. I can look through its amazing wine displays (the only supermarket in Australia where the alcohol shelves dwarf everything else) and wonder why I haven't bought any, ever. Opposite the shop and its wine is where we get lunch, and the solid lunch I eat there means I can get by in the evening with a very light meal indeed (which will save me from worrying on Friday, when I go straight from teaching to Sydney - I can get a coffee and maybe a sandwich at the bus station and will be fine).
The class areas at University House are the sort you normally see (and that are often used for) conferences and senior meetings. The staff give us jugs of iced water and little sweets and maybe even rather nice coffee. It's luxury teaching. I make it more luxury because of my evil way of classifying women's leadership styles, but I can't tell you about that in case potential students are reading: I don't want to spoil the surprise.
I guess it wouldn't surprise you to know that my biggest task of today was preparing the handout and my various lots of teaching notes for this course? All I have to do is pack my bag tomorrow night and I'm ready. I didn't get any novel done - too many aches - but at least I'm ready and raring to teach.
