This morning my place is housework-central.

I've put away the last of the great piles of fiction I took from the sorting shelves. I can now start filling the sorting shelves up again for next time.

I'm over 2/3 of the way through my laundry and I was 80% of the way to covering my loungeroom floor with paper for recycling (but I just bagged everything, so you can see the floor again - very sad). When the rain stops (we have rain!!) and I put my rubbish out then I will have to go and mess things up again, because my place will just not look like its regular messy self.

I've done 25% of my daily exercise and watered my single and solitary plant (now it's getting a second watering - did I say we have rain?), but haven't yet washed the dishes. I have a very small hot water tank, so I can shower or wash sheets or wash dishes then I have to wait a bit before I can do any more.

I still have a heap of things to tackle, but at least I've put on a good pretence of domestication. Of course, the minute I pick up a book, that pretence will be out the window.

I'm up-to-date with reading novels for Aurealis and am going to treat myself to Accelerando. I know, three reading treats is a lot in an aching week where I have fifteen books I *have* to read (all done!) and where there's teaching and teaching prep (all done! except for London) and other earning-money-stuff (um ... not all done), but this means that soon I can put Accelerando away as well, so it fits the houseworkly mood of the morning - and besides, I *feel* like reading.

I've updated my diary so all my paid work in November features (always handy). I've paid all my bills and just need to update my MLA membership. I've put some comdiments away in the kitchen but not enough for it to look tidy. I just have to face that nothing ever looks tidy in my vicinity. Some of my unit is in danger of becoming clean, though.

This afternoon is mainly going to be spent checking a manuscript for historical errors and sending off my edit of someone's copy edit of that article from earlier in the week (that migraine meant I forgot all about it!).

This evening is all about speculative fiction for fun - TV and Stross. Unless there are more books in the mail, in which case Stross will be displaced till they're finished.

Tomorrow I blitz all the short stories for Aurealis. And I maybe get to go shopping. And, if I can finish everything and not be in pain (chronic illness stuff - not been a good week) then I get to write some of my own novel (the bit I need the Johnny Depp poster for, in fact). This is a Friday devoutly to be wished for. I won't be earning a single red cent tomorrow, but I will be entirely enjoying my day.

If I have any deep and meaningful thoughts I might post them (I had some before, but the housework drove them out of my brain), but otherwise, that's my day!

I have an update. I just received an email that's begging to be shared, especially given that election day is 4 weeks away.

For years I've voted at the local primary school, and said school is now closed. All I need is to know is other polling places within walking distance. The Electoral Commission has not previously put maps of the polling places on the web (nor does it have one there now) - you have to buy exactly the right paper on exactly the right day to find the pre-election listing.

I decided to ask where I can go to place my vote. I used my own name for the email, just in case you were wondering. This is the reply.

"Hi Robyn,

Thank you for your email.

As polling places are yet to be finalised for the 2007 election, some polling place details will not be available until after nominations have been declared.

Please enquire again closer to election day or to check your local newspaper or the AEC website closer to election day.
