I had an epiphany. A seasonal one, no less. Let me quote from something I have said elsewhere (quoting myself - look at the terrible depths to which I have descended!):
"I'm thinking of setting into law that anyone who asks about snow (it being summer here) or suggests Christmas activities for me (since I'm Jewish) is obliged to send me presents. Chocolate counts as a present, as long as it is dark chocolate."
PS If I don't turn up to a Christmas party in the next 8 days it's because I can't guarantee getting back home in time for candle lighting. I'm not avoiding you, truly. I'm just not sacrificing my own festival for someone else's. And I have candles to light, too; Manischewitz, no less, thanks to the kindness of
yasminke. She somehow divined that I forgot to buy my candles in September when I was in Melbourne.
PPS CSFG Sunday party-goers are welcome to drop by my place after the party if they miss me. I bet that I have food and that my place is all almost-tidy for Chanukah.
PPPS Fried food recipes from tonight at
my other blog. You can get fat, celebrate Chanukah and learn some history, all at once!
PPPPS No more silly posts until tomorrow, I promise.
