Feb. 5th, 2008 03:12 pmSuddenly, I miss the Middle Ages. I did't realise that all those years spent with it as my main historical focus would mean that when I gave attention to other times, it would make me feel discomfited. About the only Medieval thing in my last fortnight is a new theory about coffee origins. I can see I need to repent and resolve to return to my core. Not till I've finished with Rome, though. All the costumes are so wrong in Rome, if you watch it through Medieval eyes.
Which reminds me, I never did get round to reading the Old French life of Julius Caesar. Does anyone know if there's a copy online? It would certainly solve the issue of combining the Middle Ages with Rome.
ETA: I can't find Old French Julius, but there are a whole bunch of other texts that I haven't read or haven't read in twenty years (I love the OMACL site!). I am a happy bunny.
ETA2: So that you, too, may be happy bunnies (and it's not in Old French, I suspect): http://www.openlibrary.org/details/fifteenthcentury00brituoft
