Mar. 8th, 2008 08:17 pmI feel like a self-conscious schoolgirl. I want to flick my hair just slightly, or to start a sentence just so. I shan't do either. I have finished teaching blogging and just because several of you know my dark blogsecrets doesn't mean I need to be selfconscious.
Since flicking my hair just so is out, I shall ponder all the things I won't do tonight. The only guarantee I can make about my evening is drinking tea and babbling (maybe both at once) because I'm so overtired I feel time is about to go in reverse. I keep telling myself that on Monday I have a date with three books and a bed and that it won't be so hard to remain awake tomorrow. My tomorrow is full of essentials without which life will be not-very-good. Although if I don't get any groceries, I guess I could live on historical apples.
Tonight, while babbling and drinking tea, I might also unpack my teaching bag and retrieve my secret treasures. I spent $20 at Gorman House Market at lunchtime, you see, and am now the proud owner of a silver chafing dish (which I need to date) and a couple of other pieces of important cooking equipment. One of them is travelling with me to Sydney soon, so I can't describe it here. The other one's name completely escapes me, so I can't describe it here either. What I can do is explain that I know exactly how to use it and I even pulled it apart for the edification of students earlier. I might keep everything together and take it in on Thursday so my food history students can ooh and ah. The object without a name's pre-tealight ancestor would have had little coals in, so it's a rather cool thing to take into food history class.
I haven't trained the kettle yet to boil itself when I'm thirsty, so please excuse me. Babbling without a big mug of tea isn't at all fun.
