Aug. 9th, 2008 11:18 pmLast night was very special. Teaching today was rather good. And there may be snow down to 600 metres tomorrow. Me? I live somewhere between 650 and 700 metres and it's market day, so I'll be up super-early. Also, the immune system acting so oddly this year means my skin is pumping out heat, which means I only feel half the cold of anyone else. In other words, if there is snow, I shall enjoy it. If there is no snow, I get to enjoy the market and the company.
In other news, I bought a Portuguese coffee pot today. It was impossible to resist, since it was only $10. Mind you, I don't know how to make coffee in the Portuguese manner. Something to add to my repertoire, now I have a proper pot for it. In fact, the pot is really like some American colonial ones, so I can make American colonial coffee or Portuguese coffee, or I can put it on a shelf and admire it, since it's very pretty.
I also managed to spend $1 on a book. It's a first edition of Mary Gilmore's Fourteen Men and other Poems. It's lovely. In its dust jacket and in good condition. I especially like the dedicatory poem from Hugh McRae to Mary Gilmore just after the title sheet. At least one of my friends will envy me this book, I suspect.
