The saga continues. I shall treasure this week, I think, as one of those I least needed to happen in my life.

Nothing drastic today, just continuation of everything from before. I'm going to try sorting out everything that needs sorting out by lunchtime and then I plan to stay in bed until the plumber comes tomorrow. So don't panic if you don't hear from me or can't get in touch with me. Yes, I am sick - but no, I'm not dying. In fact, at this stage, it's all turning into an overburdened farce.

This is a quick update, just to let you know that things are improving. Sort of. This morning I went to the doctor on the way to work and he said I was running a very fine temperature and have a secondary infection worthy of great doses of antibiotics to match the cortisone. My lungs are, of course, the guilty party. They are very ick. I have to check back in a week to find out if the cortisone is doing its job and to make sure I can breathe and stuff. I have to rest more. I have to drink more liquid. Apart from that, I've done the right things at the right time.

Anyone who has emailed me or rung, I'll get back to you tomorrow when the plumber is finished. I'm staying in bed til then. Except when I get up to drink water etc.

For people who have asked why I haven't got round to sending them an email or returning their call, work hasn't gone away just because I'm unwell. I don't get paid time off. I taught this morning. I've written all the things that had immutable deadlines (what Gillian did while she had her lack-of-breath waited for the clinic to open at 7 am). I will be doing some more work Thursday night, because otherwise the weekend will get out of hand, and I'm teaching on Saturday. This is why Eneit and Murasaki were talking about me needing a Brownie - they know that some things have to continue, regardless.

Me and my fine fever are going to bed, now that I have done all my paid work, met the most impossible deadlines, seen the doctor, seen the chemist and reported in. See you tomorrow!
