Oct. 21st, 2008 07:58 pmI fixed my set-top box tonight. It's an old one and seemed to have given up the ghost. This was not good. I turned it off and turned it on again, and it didn't respond. In fact, it refused to turn on or off at all. I unplugged it and plugged it in again: it still didn't respond. I scolded it mildly. It still didn't respond. I told a friend it was dead and it *still* didn't respond. I went online and priced replacements. Obviously my set-top box understands that replacements are serious busines, because it suddenly works better than it did before.
I do wonder what else in my life will work better if threatened with a replacement. Or does it have to be a replacement that can be sourced through Dick Smith. I must ponder this deep mystery.
