My life is ... something. Not bad. Mostly enjoyable. But just a bit edgy right now. It's probably the weather.

If I were being dramatic, I would have stopped this post at the end of the last sentence and let the weather reverberate through your brain the way it's doing through mine, but I'm in the mood for word games. Blame my Wednesday students. We played two different games this morning, one involving rhyme and the other, not. We ran out of time for acrostics because we spent too much time on actual work (shame on us). If anyone feels the need to create an acrostic, I will read it with much glee.

The other thing I wil do with much glee is play with food dye and white roses, if only I can get a white rose or two. They never appear when I'm in a Martin-Gilbert-meets-Lewis-Carroll mood. I may have to survive on acrostics. Or hunt up some of the more arcane games. We used to play them in my childhood - it was one of our ways of dealing with Christmas.

I dealt with Christmas in the shops today by telling everyone how it made me grumpy whenever someone wished me happy. The assistants wished me happy anyway. I got grumpier and grumpier until the moment I won a $10 gift voucher in a Christmas promotion. At that moment I had no excuses left.

And Gilbert has gone the way of my letterbox key ie I can't find either. I've decided to give up. Grumpiness is too much effort. Tidying up to find keys and books is too much effort. I'm going to make a hot drink and watch a Sharpe film and recite Jabberwocky in French.

Pity the others at the crit group tonight. I fear I am a trial to many, today.
