Dec. 15th, 2008 05:54 pmSometimes there are emails that just demand to be relayed. I love The Etched City (KJ Bishop). The author of said amazing book has emailed me to ask if I knew anyone who would be interested in a short story of hers, hand illustrated and signed. She is a fabulous writer and a seriously good illustrator, so this is something worth possessing.
She is offering the story to raise money for Vera Nazarian, who has been there for a great many other people and is now in a sticky spot herself. I don't know Vera, but even at this great distance I've heard wonderful things about her.
I think I'll let Kirsten explain from here:
"I don't know whether Vera is known at all in Australian writing circles -- I met her through Prime books in the US -- but, in any case, I'm offering a story of at least 1000 words, based on the winning bidder's prompt (I'm asking for at least 3 prompts to choose from). The story will be printed out, signed, and hand-illustrated in some way by me. I reserve the right to commercially publish the text of the story. Current bidding at $50, auction ends December 20th.
The page for the auction is here, and the main page for the "help Vera community" is here."
