I'm a very happy little vegemite.

R and M and I spent an entirely delightful afternoon playing in Weston Park. It turns out that the tacky little kiosk there has possibly the best commercial coffee in Canberra. They make it on one of those old machines with an eagle on top, that somehow escaped from Lygon Street. Good coffee, a good friend and her gorgeous two year old child in the exact place I had to get to (somehow) in the next fortnight to sort out a sequence for my writing = recipe for happiness.

Then G and L came round and sorted out most of my HDTV problems. My new set top box was fine, but living in a flat meant I needed a new antenna. Which I now have. I get 17 clear free to air channels instead of five muddy ones. It just needs some extra teasing to persuade it into showing Channel 9. Every other station is so beautiful. I might even watch TV tonight. And I can watch Dr Who in spendid high definition on January 25.

As a bonus, I have passed the 40,000 word mark on the novel. When I get to 45,000 words I get a day off. Since I have already planned the day off, to watch Lord of the Rings (all 3 films in one day) with some fine and fun folks, I had better get back to work after dinner. Or maybe have dinner late. Or both.

You know, all I need is a bit more history in my day for it to be perfect.
