I only need one more beta reader. I always try to have one person who's never beta read for me before, so I can get an all-new opinion. I don't have to have met you for you to beta read. You just need to be willing to read a draft manuscript and tell me what's good about it and what's bad about it, the things you like and the things you like not.

Slowly, slowly, I'm catching up with myself after Conflux. Because I never finished my Conflux postings (no-one expressed an interest, so I spent time sleeping and writing novel instead of writing blogposts) there was one really important thing I never said.

Thank you, friends who came to the booklaunch. Especially thank you to the friends (and one family member) who drove hundreds of miles for the booklaunch. It meant a lot that you were there. Whenever I got too nervous for words I looked into the room, saw you and found my words again. Can I say, for the millionth time, how very lucky I am in my friends?

Weather changes are such a joy. Truly.

Kaaron gets a tsunami day and I get a weather change migraine. The natural imbalance that is life.

On a cheerful note, my godchild dropped round this morning, bringing her parents with her. I only made three Lucy jokes. OK, well, maybe it was four. Maybe. Her mother has had many worse things to forgive me for over the last four decades.

Lucy burbles most beautifully and smiles most sweetly. When she can talk, I intend to teach her how to make bad jokes while smiling most sweetly. Her parents were hoping for good jokes, perhaps.

All my other news is writing-related. I've written enough about writing this last few days. It's time to think about other things. I need more Lucy jokes, for one thing. As my little godchild gets bigger (this is inevitable - she's a very young godchild) she will need more jokes to sustain her dignity.
