I'm having a quiet few minutes catching up on myself. I've had one minor health issue this week, and everything else has been about work.

My bibliographies are proceeding apace and my poor long-suffering work experience student was given a 26 page list of books, instructions on how to use the ANU Library catalogue and left to find things. That was this morning, while I was teaching. It worked out well for her on the 'how do you get work done when you're home alone' front, too. It worked well for me, because she's located me about 30 books I shall consult when I am at that stage. I've already checked the Departmental Archives and have everything I need from them, which diminishes my need to actually visit France, which is a tremendous shame, (but it's good to know what's there and that it's all been transferred to Montpellier and that I know most of what I need from it already).

The 26 page bibliography is for the novel. It's the abbreviated version, because I've already got a ton of information in various forms and I haven't done most of my journal bibliographing yet. I also have to check for super-recent publications. Another couple of days of work will see the bibliographies ready to roll.

The dissertation bibliography is only about 14 pages so far. This is partly because I can't go full throttle on it until Aaargh! is finished, partly because I have an 85 page list of alternate histories etc and have already been through it and worked out what I actually need from that list, and partly because there's not a great deal out there in terms of research.

Finally I feel as if I've actually done some useful work, even if the bibliographies still feel somewhat abbreviated.

Yesterday's news is that two different people accused me of overwork. This is normal work for me, though. I've been ill so long that no-one here knows that, really. Besides, my family keep telling me I'm lazy. Somewhere between overwork and laziness, the truth lies.

The dentist has updated her diagnosis, because of the pain levels still being high and my tooth still being infected (one of the friends who think I work too hard pushed me to go to the dentist and even drove me there, just to make certain - I am a lost cause, I fear). I'm one of those rare and special people whose extractions take three months to heal. The pain will diminish (and is diminishing), just really slowly. My dentist says not to worry, that it will probably be healed around August. This means that, like my heart and kidneys, all will be much better by AussieCon.

And that's all my news. I'm now going to set a good example for my work experience student and do much work. Right now she has the lounge chair and her laptop and I have the desk. It all feels strangely office-like.
