Happy New Year
Sep. 8th, 2010 05:22 pmIt's that time of year and that time of day. May I wish you all Happy New Year and wish you all a good and a sweet year. Well over the Fast, too, for anyone who observes the Fast.
My particular Rosh Hashanah celebration is to max out my mother's library card with my own reading for the holiday, while giving her handy recommendations for her own reading.
I decided it was time to base my recommendations on a whole new principle. Mum refused every single book I pulled off the shelves. She explained that knowing someone well enough to hug them was not a good reason to read a book and besides, I hug too many horror writers. I can't help it if horror writers write scary stuff but are generally the most lovable and affectionate of human beings. Anyhow, as a result I have lots and lots of reading to carry me through and Mum has just two books.
I have replaced the presents I left in Canberra (I always forget something when travelling) with toffees, so my family will all have a sweet year and will draw their dentists' ire.
