I promised that I would give you the aggregated list of female writers who write steampunk. I hadn't forgotten - I've just been slow because this is a busy time of year. I'm doing pretty well, considering (and considering I'm at the stage in my novel where I want to damn the world and just keep writing - it's steaming up my brain and writing is the release valve). Anyway - here is your aggregated list. It's by no means a complete list. Just the books friends suggested when I couldn't think of either Gail Carriger or Cherie Priest.

Cherie Priest Boneshaker, Dreadnaught
Dru Pagliassotti, Clockwork Heart
Ekaterina Sedia, Alchemy of Stone
Elizabeth Bear, New Amsterdam
Gail Carriger, Soulless
Ginn Hale
Katie McAllister, Steamed: A Steampunk Romance
Lisa Mantchev The Theatre Illuminata Trilogy
M.K. Hobson, The Native Star
Meljean Brook, The Iron Duke
Possibly some of Mary Gentle's work

In the continuing saga of Gillian winning the paper battle (she's lost the war but is determined never to surrender*), I have just paid all my bills. Tonight I get to do taxes (a whole *box* of papers can then be put away. And maybe even a book review. Just maybe.

Tomorrow? Tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow I clear the chairs and find all the things I'd completely forgotten.

Tuesday is rather exciting. About fifty books go away on Tuesday, after class, for that course will have finished. What this means is that my couch will be reclaimed and friends can come to visit. Or if they do come to visit, there will be somewhere to sit. Maybe.

All this amazing action has to wait, however, for right now I'm off to a Conflux meeting. I'm even wearing my Conflux t-shirt. I shall blend in with the rest of the committee and I shall not look like someone who is in the midst of warring with paper.

*winning skirmishes helps. My latest skirmish is only half-won, however, because the paper is in the recycling bags, but hasn't yet reached the bins. This is because I dropped a plate on my foot, edge first, and whenever I try to walk I find myself stopping to admire the deep bruise that has made my big toe such a fascinating colour. What's really interesting, is that the pain from it is less than the pain I have most days from everything else, which just shows that it's possible to deal with pain, if it lasts long enough. I'm thinking of giving this skirmish a name: the Abercrombie, I should call it.
