(no subject)
Feb. 24th, 2012 12:37 pmEvery now and again I get a student who clamours for harder and harder work.
"I can do this new thing," they nod to demonstrate their enthusiasm, "Even if it's difficult."
"It will take much work on your part - extra homework."
"Oh, I can do that. I'm a hard worker, and besides, I want to learn this new thing with a deep passion."
And the rest of the class looks on, silent, fully aware that this student thinks that it demonstrates how much they're learning when we go round the circle and discuss a subject and when it gets to this student's turn they turn their eyes up in thought and say, with a sweet smile "Well, I didn't have time to do the reading, but if I had, this is what I would have done and these are my thoughts on it."
