I shall make a book list in a few days, I think and post it. It will include the recommendations you've all been kindly giving me, and it will include the names of the symposium presenters where I can locate work by them. I'll have to find a hole in my workload, first. Today's hole is due to having to cancel things this morning and doesn't count. It isn't really a hole, either, for I have so much stuff to do this week that cancelling a morning's work means that, if I'm lucky, I'll be up to treading water soon.

The trouble now is that I put lots of work in, but nothing gets signed off on and so I can't cross things off my list. I have four and a half weeks to get through my list and it's looking daunting. I have to remind myself that edits to a 10,000 word piece aren't as bad as writing such a piece from scratch and that I've already read one of the books from the four remaining webbish reviews. Mostly, I just have to do the work and hope that people will sign off on things soon.

If I can sort out why my camera doesn't want to talk to my computer (it's the weather again, I think - this happens every year - connections fail until it stabilises) then I shall have photos for you. Not yet, however. Right now, my camera and computer refuse to chat.

This is the view I get when I come home: it's the road from the airport to my place. I live in the barely-visible valley. I know from here it's only five more minutes...

St Kilda Rd, Melbourne. My mother had her tonsils out here when she was little.

One of my favourite bridges (Princes Bridge - the apostrophe that once was there apparently has suffered loss) from the new concert hall where Mum and I and an old friend heard Brahms, Chopin and Strauss.
