Today was my last Ministerial Advisory Council meeting. I have a reception thingie tomorrow and some edits to do on our last paper and then that is *it*. A giant weight off my shoulders.
I will miss it. When people get mad about feminists I want them to meet the women of that Council. No man hating. No aggression. A vast amount of sanity and a desire for a more sensible world. Willingness to talk and an acute intelligence that sees to the heart of problems. Joy at finding equitable solutions. I am not describing just one woman - this was every single member. It was a rare and special experience to work with them.
My quiet moment of "Oh!" came when someone expressed disappointment I had not expressed interest in joining the next Council. There is always a little voice in the back of my mind reminding me Gillianisanidiotisanidiotisanidiot. For a full half hour that voice was silent. Nice feeling.
