I am re-reading "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". I have lots of excuses ready if anyone doubts my taste.

My taste in journals is *impeccable* this week, regardless of my taste in books. Lots of Bruce Gillespie. And an Andromeda Spaceways. Hopefully the one with an article by me in, but that depends on my contributor's copy arriving.

You know what I like about my current set of occupations? All this reading officially classes as work...

Jack Dann is having a Question and Answer in think.com as I type. He has been asked at least four times when he started to write. Sometimes he gives the real answer, but sometimes he says things like "when dinosaurs were still grazing in the fields".

He is very generous with his answers, even when he adds jokes. He considers all the questions seriously (including the repeat ones) and gives useful responses, whether it is a student asking, or a teacher, or an interloper like me. The writer in me is learning from his answers, which shows how very good they are. He doesn't talk down to the kids at all, but he has tempered his language to fit the school environment. Strange to see such an absence of four letter words....

Related, Jack just posted to the blogbit of the think.com. I had asked him how his voice was, since last time I saw him he was losing it. He can talk again. And he is well. And he is handling with aplomb the evil questions I am now asking him in the Question and Answer session. He got the same awful bug I did after Continuum: it would have been the perfect convention if we hadn't all got sick from it!! Maybe I will stop asking him evil questions...
