The last hoorah for the August think.com festival has just been put online. http://mc2.vicnet.net.au/home/wendyje/files/jj.pdf

The ideal approach to this is to read the very last item first, because it is by Oliver, who was one of my students. All my class were talented and bright, but Oliver's writing stood out. Note the 'my' in 'one of my students': Oliver said to me , cautiously, "I am working on a live story" and a couple of weeks later he asked me to read it and somehow it ended up in the journal. I do not have an innocent look, because he was asked before it went up. I just wish I knew how he felt about working with two editors for the first time.

I have managed to pull a very small muscle in my little finger. OK, you can all stop laughing.

I know it's funny, and it only hurts when I try to use it or try to straighten it. The little finger on my right hand turns out to have a lovely streak of sympthy and is keeping the one on my left hand company. Isn't it nice to have a body where all the parts are so in tune with each other that they do sympathy-aches?

My little finger and I are formatting some stuff for [livejournal.com profile] girliejones because even the thought of real work hurts my brain just now. As a result, I have just taken a look at the Aurealis nominations http://www.fantasticqueensland.com/~aurealisawards/Frame.html Check out the Young Adult novel section. This is a totally outstanding list. Some really superb books and writers. If you want to read through just one section of Aurealis before the shortlistings are announced, go for the Young Adult Novels.
