I can breathe again. To celebrate I am reading "Native Tongue", by Elgin. There are some contructs in it I cannot come at, but her premise is totally interesting. She is exploring some of the possible linguistic consequences of a society where women have no civil rights. It is not cheerful, but it is definitely worth reading. Very science fictional and so far, very sad.

My other reading of the day is a book by Catherine Asaro and one by DC Green. All science fiction but each so *different*. I keep comparing Asaro to Karen Traviss. Sorry Karen, you are not at all like her and she is not at all like you - it is purely my brain being ever-wayward. Too many Karens and Kaarons and Kaarens who write speculative fiction. I spent Thursday with Kaaron Warren and saw Kaaren Sutcliffe, which definitely aids mind-warping.

What else is happening in my life today? I can't get to a party I wanted to go to because I am being a bit careful after yesterday, so my life is mainly housework. sad, but true.
