Today I am cheating. I am posting a very slightly modified version of an article I wrote for the Canberra Times a few years ago. I am putting it behind a cut, though, in case you aren't interested.

I hope you are interested. It explains why women's history is important to all of us. There are more reasons, but there is only so much polemic I will put into a short article. (Does this mean I am all grown up? Polemic dominated everything I said way back in my twenties.)

I have giveaways! I have Women's History month postcards and stickers courtesy the Australian WHM committee. About 25 stickers and about 15 postcards.

The first umpteen people who post something interesting about women's history (or about an interesting woman in history) are entitled to a postcard *and* a sticker. After that it is stickers only till they all run out. I have some stamps in my purse so I can send them locally without worsening my amazingly-short-of-money condition. Or I can bring them to Magic Casements or to Conjure (or even to Melbourne, just before Conjure). Outside Australia you won't get them till my teaching decides it wants to happen, I am afraid, which is May. Still, though, send me your snail mail address and I will find something extra to put in the envelope to make up for them being late.

Just send me your snail mail address and a link to the post: snail mail addresses to gpolack(at)trivumpublishing(dot)com. The link to the post isn't so I can check up on you - it is so that I enjoy reading your post and expand my knowledge and get more joy out of life. Why should I give out postcards if there is no fun in it for me?

The stickers shows a woman signalling something in semaphore and announce the website and the postcard is of Barbara James, a thirties saxaphonist. I covet her dress.
