Jul. 3rd, 2006 10:58 amKaaron here. Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Elizabeth. I feel like I know you and your filthy underwear-obsession already!
Good to be back. I meant to start my entry yesterday, but I got distracted by these. I think they are called Capriccosa, but they probably aren't:
2 shots vodka
1 shot fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar
a few torn mint leaves
crushed ice
Almost fill a whisky glass with crushed ice.
After you've squeezed the lime, cut the peel into quarters and put the vodka, juice, sugar, leaves and peel into a shaker. Give a good bashing (the bashing gets more intense the more of these you drink) then strain it onto the ice. Chuck in a couple of lime peels and bits of mint and drink with a straw.
I had quite a few of these at a friend's 40th birthday up in Newcastle.
Fun! His birthday is the second, mine is the third (yes, it's my birthday today. All greetings gratefully accepted), and we like to be together at midnight, to pass the baton. You'd think we'd be over that kind of thing, being 40-something now, but we're not.
Did I mention it was my birthday? And that three people have already told me the card is in the mail but it won't arrive today?
