Oct. 21st, 2006 02:04 amWhat do you need to know today? That I am tempted by my own blogging (on my food blog, not here) to indulge in bread and butter pudding? That I am strong and brave and am restraining myself from such indulgence? That it's quite cool today and may rain which makes entire sense in my perverse universe as I have *lots* of washing that is trying to dry? That my reading for the day is a book by Michael Pryor?
Maybe not.
What *I* need to know today is if there are any other writers out there who are like Justina Robson and Marianne de Pierres. I'm desperately seeking flawed woman protagonists who action-hero their way through dystopic or post-apocalyptic societies. If there are elves and demons as well as amazing machinery then so much the better. The women don't have to be fuelled by nuclear reactors, but I would be particularly interested to learn about them if they are.
That last paragraph sounded like an ad for a date. I guess it was, in a way. I want to meet more books that have this particular conjunction of stuff. I want to find out what makes them tick. So if anyone can set me up for a series of blind dates with books of this particular sort, I will be very grateful.
