I was going to post some serious thoughts on writing today, because I'm getting back into writing mode as teaching mode diminishes for a while. I'm teaching one workshop at the ACT Writers Centre soon (for writers who want to include Judaism or Jewish characters in their work but would like to know some basics first and maybe get some questions answered) and my Wednesday writing class, but that's it for a bit.

An article intervened, as articles do. This is a summary of a program I am rather glad I missed. There's so much to think about in the transcript - about people, about humanity, about the Middle East, about how we move from one zone into another, about just a whole lot more - that a transcript is much easier to unpack than a live program would have been. The insight that most struck me just before I wrote this (one of many striking insights) was that after a big evil individuals get drawn into a kind of community thought, which can make us forget that we have our own issues that still need resolving. Our own issues may be small and insignificant for humanity as a whole, but we still have to work through them and not let fear obliterate them and force us into stagnancy. I also love the notion of a liminal space, where we *know* we're crosing boundaries into somewhere safe where we can explore inside ourselves. I always wish I had the courage to take on the despite of other people with inward security of my own. And I've always loved the notion that since we don't know when our death will come we need to live each and every day fully.

Anyhow, check it out for yourself: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/allinthemind/stories/2006/1777457.htm#

I have decided I need a colourful past. Which colours are best and why? That's a *much* harder thing to decide.
