Just because I feel like asking these questions :).

1. Do you make latkes? Yes. I ate them too. Feel very fat tonight, but it was worth it.

2. Is your menorah kosher? I have two - one is kosher and one isn't. Make that three - the third is kosher but impermanent.

3. Do you know all the words to ma'ot tsur or do you cheat after the first two lines? I know all the words (nya, nya?)

4. Do you know the dredel rules? Sometimes. Other times I make them up.

5. Have you ever overindulged in chocolate coins or doughnuts? Naturally.

6. What is your favourite answer when people ask "Why don't you celebrate Christmas"? "Celebrate Chanukah with me and I'll celebrate Christmas with you." And the party was *fun* today so I am looking forward to Christmas :).

7. If you are on holiday during Chanukah (eg camping) do you bother to take candles, or do you unpack and say "Damn, no menorah and no candles - sorry kids, maybe next year"? Depends who I'm camping with and whether I can stir them.

8. Invent your own question - it is too hot for ideas at this end. Invention is beyond me but my chocolate coins look like Smaug's hoard. People brought them to gamble and forgot to take them home!

I have printouts of lots of yummy recipes that need trialling for the Conflux banquet. The friends who turned up to my party yesterday got first choice (and we had a ball - the party finally shut up shop at 2 am) and I have posted the rest of the list at http://www.foodpast.com/regency-gothic-banquet-food-testing-update/ . If anyone would like to make any of the dishes that haven't been allocated, just yell out. Please yell out. None of them are terrifyingly complicated.

The sooner I get lots of results, the sooner I can draft a menu and the sooner we can negotiate with the hotel about said menu. I will be taking some recipes to Melbourne so my mother doesn't feel left out, and I can most certainly take extras if other Melbournians relish the thought of printouts from early 19th century cookbooks. And there are still a few recipes-as-eaten-by-Jane-Austen's family on an earlier list (just check backwards through my food blog).

I'm not visitable today because I am rather tired today (for no understandable reason) but I'll be round on and off during the week, so give me a ring if you want to pick up a recipe or two and maybe have coffee and snacks.
