Jan. 22nd, 2007 10:14 pmMost days something surprising happens.
Today's surprise was a five year old and a seven year old about to give up on a game of hide and seek. They had played every variation they could think of and were almost ready to be taken home. Then my minions joined them and the game became three children seeking and just one child hiding.
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, .... fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, eighteen and a half, nineteen, nineteen and a half, nineteen and three quarters, twenty. Coming, ready or not!" they chorused and then raced around looking into everything and under everything. When it was my age sixteen minion's turn, she curled up into a tiny ball and hid in a cupboard.
All the younger children looked into that cupboard, and none of them saw her. She was there in plain sight, but they weren't looking at the shelf area, only at the space in front of it.
