May. 3rd, 2007 01:25 pmAll the Aurealis Award stuff is up here. The site isn't as flashy as last year's, but it's *way* easier to navigate. I could tell you everything about it, but you really should go straight there and look.
I'm particularly pleased with the Young Adult panel, of course, since I'm on it. It's a good panel in all respects (2 of us from last year and 3 newbies), and I'm very grateful to have another year where I have an excuse to read my favourite type of books and discuss them with people know probably know more than I do.
What all this means is it's time to start nominating works. I still have a dream that every eligible piece of fiction gets considered. That can only happen if lots of people chase up publishers and writers and anyone else and nominate lots of stuff. The free online fiction *should* have 100% hit rate, because there isn't the cost of buying a book or magazine. It all depends on readers and writers and publishers and editors and ... you know ... us. On legwork being done. On forms being filled in and works being sent for consideration.
Umm. That was less than successful as an encouraging and flagwaving paragraph. Maybe if I say "Insert your own exhortation in the square brackets" [ . . . . ]? Does that do the trick?
